Here are the latest Q's & A's from our community (these were also sent in our newsletter):

Q. Is a date set yet for an official grand opening?
A. Yes, Edgerton will have a “Dedication Day” on October 2nd. This will be the anticipated official ceremony announcing that the school is complete. There will be dignitaries and board members, the builders and special guests, speeches and dedications, etc. Details of this day are still being hammered out. In addition to this date, our staff is putting thought into having something a bit more geared toward our Edgerton community...a sort of “grand opening”. We have talked about having this as an evening event earlier in the year. More to come as we solidify the details of these events.

Q. What is being done for the traffic congestion/patterns at the school?
A. As mentioned above, there is now an official second entry into Edgerton Elementary. Personal vehicles will enter the campus from 164th Street. Busses will enter from 127th Ct. E. Parents will loop around the parking lot and drop off at the front of the school, departing the way they came. We will have two or three crossing areas with crossing guards, and staff will be visible in the morning and afternoon to help with supervision.

Q. Is Edgerton a “closed” school, or can others “choice” in?
A. Yes, Edgerton is officially “closed” which means “No”, students can not use a district choice form to come to the school if they are not living in the school’s attendance boundaries. Edgerton will only serve those students who are in our attendance area.

Q. How was the staff selected for Edgerton Elementary?
A. The openings at Edgerton and Carson were posted for all in-district employees to apply for. All classroom teachers went through an interview process, a screening process, and administrative reference checks. Applicants had to explain in writing why they wanted to come to Edgerton and share what recent professional development they had been involved in. With the emphasis on collaboration and use of instructional technology, applicants also had to share an open-ended technology presentation during the interview process.

Q. Will Edgerton benefit from the passing of the bond?
While there are 19 specific projects (see page 6), there are some areas in which Edgerton would benefit. The three most specific are: 1) increased safety with an emergency shed & supplies, 2) the increase in technology use and efficiency because of going to a faster internet “highway” (fiber optics), and 3) a boost to instructional opportunities (money spent in this area that is earmarked for new school reader boards, which we will have).
